Colleagues and Friends,
Traditional human machine
interaction is normally based on passive
instruments such as keyboard, mouse, etc. It’s
impossible for them to understand and express
emotions. Without the ability of emotion
processing, computers cannot be expected to be a
human-like machine, and also cannot be expected
to communicate with humans in a natural and
harmonious way. Emotion is one of the most
important features of humans. We therefore
expect that computers should have the ability to
process emotion and to interact with human users
in a natural way. Affective Computing and
Intelligent Interaction is a key technology to
enable computers to observe, understand and
synthesize emotions, and to behave vividly.
In order to provide an opportunity for
scientists, engineers, and graduate students to
present and discuss new problems, solutions, and
technologies in the area, we decide to hold the
1st
International
Conference on Affective Computing and
Intelligent Interaction (ACII2005).
The working language of ACII2005 is English.
Prospective authors are invited to submit
full-length papers (maximum 8 pages in Springer
LNCS format) for presentation in any of the
areas listed below. All ACII2005 papers will be
handled and reviewed electronically and details
can be found in the conference web-site
http://www.affectivecomputing.org/2005. The
conference proceedings will be published by
Springer-Verlag in LNCS
series.
Again, with that genuine international and
interdisciplinar perspective, you are kindly
invited to actively participate in this First
International Conference on Affective Computing
and Intelligent Interaction (ACII2005) as
